By the time they return home most of the children will have gained weight, some up to 7 kilos. They look and feel healthier and most importantly their immune system will have been greatly strengthened. The children will also have learned a lot about life in Guernsey and it's history. They will also have gained more self-confidence and made new friends in the Channel Islands. Some of the host families have travelled to Belarus to visit the children they have looked after. Once the children have returned home letters are exchanged which encourages the children to learn English and we know their education improves as they have better attendance at school due to less illness.

Each child will return home with a year's supply of multi vitamins for themselves and siblings. They will also go back with things which are difficult to obtain back home such as paracetamol, antiseptic creams, plasters and many other such items which we take for granted.
